The Digitalberry team took part in two panel discussions on “digital identity at the heart of digital trust” and “high-priority projects for IS departments in 2020” at Tunisia Digital Summit 2020. Digitalberry also led a workshop on “the paperless customer journey”.
The 2020 version of the Tunisia Digital Summit was held completely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In its fourth year, the two-day event brought together more than a thousand participants, mainly digital experts and IT professionals.
Digital identity at the heart of digital trust
Moderated by Digitalberry Sales Manager Anis Chahloul, the “digital identity at the heart of digital trust” discussion panel heard the opinions of three speakers: Syrine Tlili, MD of the TunTrust National Agency for Digital Certification, Mohamed Adel Chouari, MD of the Tunisian business register (RNE) and Imed El Abed, CEO of IT services business association Infotica.
The panel explored the concept of digital identity and its current significance. They discussed the benefits and opportunities it offers but also the requirements in terms of security and, more specifically, the Tunisian context.
Valuable input from the panel included Mrs. Tlili’s observation that: “The crisis has added impetus. The current public health situation is forcing us to avoid dealing with administration in person and instead move public and private services online […]. The question of digital identity is no longer a choice but an obligation.” Mr. Chouari added: “A company’s digital identity is like that of an individual. It’s a set of traces that the company’s members leave behind, either consciously or unconsciously. And then there’s the second aspect relating to paperless communications.”
High-priority projects for IS department in 2020
The next panel, entitled “High-priority projects for IS departments in 2020”, included Hamdi Zrari, Technical and Digitalberry Tunisia Manager. It covered several subjects such as the impact of the current public health situation on IS department priorities, changes to priorities and the challenges of widespread remote working. They also discussed the numerous organizational transformations and the importance of cybersecurity in the current context.
The participants explored the question of sectors experiencing accelerated digitization processes and how the IS department can support these transformation projects.
The panel was an opportunity for Digitalberry’s CTO to present the role of a management tool “Zero Trust” philosophy to better protect remote IS access. He also talked about the range of strong authentication options such as physical tokens (cryptographic keys) and software certificates on computers which can provide secure access, while still implementing a “Zero Trust” policy.
Hamdi Zrari took the opportunity to remind everyone of the costs involved in setting up such a structure, particularly relating to managing the lifecycle of these authentication methods, such as certificate expiration or vulnerabilities. In particular, he mentioned the value of a solution such as BerryCert*, which optimizes certificate lifecycle management and alerts administrators of potential weaknesses in order to react quickly and effectively.
The conference ended with a discussion on the digitization of the public sector, and the concept of Cloud First in particular.
A Digitalberry workshop on the paperless customer journey
The second day of the TDS saw a Digitalberry workshop on the paperless customer journey. Led by Hamdi Zrari and Anis Chahloul, the workshop brought together 100 online participants for an hour of exploring a wide range of subjects relating to the theme. There was a particular focus on the benefits and challenges of digital trust for the company and users, as well as developments in the field.
The workshop was also an opportunity to demonstrate a digitized customer journey in the banking and insurance sector. The two speakers focused on the importance of strong authentication in this type of project in order to protect against identity theft; digital evidence collection; the role of the electronic signature and finally archiving with legal value, which guarantees the integrity and non-repudiation of data and evidence.
A worthwhile and interesting event for Digitalberry
The Tunisia Digital Summit was an opportunity for the Digitalberry team, based in Tunis since 2017, to strengthen its links with digital market players in Tunisia. The TDS’ online panel discussions and workshops with their wealth of experience and discussions relating to the role of digitization and its importance for businesses provided an insight into the Tunisian context and its industrial opportunities. Digitalberry’s teams look forward to meeting the people they spoke to again in the future, this time face to face.
